What I Learned in 8 Years with Autoimmunity (And How You Can Skip the Hard Parts)

Have you ever felt like no one could explain why your body feels like it’s working against you?
As I sat on the exam table, I heard my doctor say the words I was so sure she wouldn't say: “Your thyroid levels are normal. I'm not sure what could be causing your symptoms.”
I feel like this phrase must be taught in medical school because I've heard countless other women share similar stories.
At 27, I knew thinning hair, dry skin, and constant fatigue weren’t just random symptoms with no cause. Deep down, I believed my thyroid was the issue, but it wasn’t until three years later that my OBGYN finally ordered a full thyroid panel. That’s when my journey really began.
When the endocrinologist confirmed I had Hashimoto’s disease, I asked her what I could do to get rid of it. She looked surprised and told me: “Well, we can start you on some thyroid medication to keep your levels stable. But you'll have this forever.”
I’m a fixer, so being told to “just live with it” didn’t sit right with me. I know Hashimoto’s isn’t curable, but I refused to accept that I had to feel miserable forever.
I dove into research. In 2017, there was plenty of information about autoimmune disease—but most of it was dense, scientific, and hard to apply. The process of figuring it all out consumed my life.
Now, after eight years of learning, trial, and error, I’ve found what works for me:
The foods that fuel my body—and the ones that drain my energy.
Habits like hydration and stress management that help me thrive.
Activities and routines that leave me feeling strong instead of exhausted.
If you’re reading this, I imagine you’ve experienced some of the same struggles. Maybe you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start.
That’s why I created the 21-Day Autoimmune Wellness Jumpstart.
This challenge is designed to give you the tools, strategies, and habits you need to start managing your symptoms and feeling your best. Over 21 days, you’ll:
✅ Learn how to fuel your body with whole, anti-inflammatory foods.
✅ Discover how to boost your energy naturally.
✅ Build simple habits that set you up for long-term success.
